PSA SCREENING IN THE NEWS!
In recent months there has been discussion about how PSA screening is not necessary. I must heartily disagree and encourage you to get your PSA screening, with a digital rectal exam, for prostate cancer. In my 25 years of clinical practice, I have found that the PSA blood work has sometimes been the only indication that the patient has prostate cancer. The quicker you diagnose prostate cancer, the better the prognosis and outcome. Prostate cancer has no symptoms until it is advanced and harder to treat. Get your digital rectal exam and PSA blood work for a screening for prostate cancer beginning at age 50, and sooner if you have a family history of prostate cancer.
